Social media advertising in Raleigh

Search ads reach people who already know they have a problem. Social ads reach people before that, which is harder, cheaper per impression, and a completely different job.

The mistake we see most often is running the same message in both places. A search ad answers a question someone just asked. A social ad has to interrupt someone who wasn’t asking anything, which means the creative carries almost all the weight.

Which platform fits which business

Nextdoor. For home services, trades, pest control, electrical, security and lawn care, this is the closest thing to buying a neighborhood referral. Ad inventory is limited and, in our experience running these, fewer Triangle businesses are bidding there than on Meta.

Facebook and Instagram. One ad system, two audiences. Facebook skews 40 and up, which suits dental, medical, legal, financial and home services. Instagram skews younger and more visual, which suits cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and med spa work.

LinkedIn. Only when you’re selling to businesses and the deal size justifies the cost per click. For most local service businesses it doesn’t.

What’s included

Creative production in house. Static images, short video, carousels, and the ad copy. This is most of the work and most of the result.

Audience building. ZIP and radius targeting, demographic and interest layers, lookalikes off your customer list, and retargeting pools.

Retargeting setup. Meta pixel and Conversions API, with audience windows tuned to your sales cycle rather than left on the default.

Lead capture, either in-platform lead forms or a landing page, depending on how qualified you need the lead to be.

Testing from day one. Three to five creative variations at launch, not one.

Monthly reporting and a real conversation about what’s working.

How it works

Common questions

Which platform works best for a local service business?

For home services in the Triangle, Nextdoor first and Facebook second. For anything cosmetic or visual, Instagram. For B2B with a deal size over about $10,000, LinkedIn. If you’re not sure, start with one and give it 60 days.

Does Nextdoor advertising actually work?

For neighborhood-level services, yes, and it’s currently underpriced here because most agencies don’t bother with it. It’s weak for anything people don’t discuss with neighbors.

What is retargeting?

Showing ads to people who already visited your site. It’s the cheapest audience you’ll ever buy because they’ve already raised their hand. Most businesses don’t have it set up.

How is this different from posting on social media?

Completely different. Posting is organic reach to people who already follow you, which for most local businesses is a few hundred people. Advertising is paid reach to people who don’t know you yet. We do the second one.

Who this is for

Businesses with a visual story or a neighborhood-level service. Best when you can commit to 60 days, because the first 30 are learning.

Not a fit if you need leads next week, or if you want us to post to your accounts daily. That’s social media management and it’s a different service from a different kind of vendor.
